This Week's Bunch Club Bouquet
I'm so excited about this week's arrangement! I've put together a gorgeous mix of deep burgundy tones, pretty blooms, and soft, feathery greenery. Let's dive into what makes this bouquet special.
Meet Your Flowers
Leucadendron 'Burgundy Sunset'
This beauty is a South African stunner from the Protea family, and it's what gives your bouquet that rich, wine-coloured drama. The 'Burgundy Sunset' has these amazing cone-shaped flower heads wrapped in colourful leaves (called bracts) that get even deeper and more intense as they age.
Fun Fact: The name Leucadendron comes from Greek words meaning "white tree"—which is pretty ironic given how gorgeously dark this 'Burgundy Sunset' variety is! In the wild, these plants can live for decades.
Vase Life: 7-14 days

Dianthus 'Apple Tree'
You might know these lovely flowers as carnations or pinks. The 'Apple Tree' variety has soft, pretty colours that remind me of apple blossoms in spring, with those classic ruffled edges that make them look so romantic and textured.
Fun Fact: The name Dianthus literally means "divine flower" in Greek—and honestly, they've earned it. People have been growing these beauties for over 2,000 years! The ancient Greeks and Romans absolutely loved them.
Vase Life: 7-10 days

Asparagus Fern
Here's a fun surprise: despite its name, this isn't actually a fern—it's part of the lily family! Those delicate, wispy stems with tiny needle-like leaves add such a lovely, airy feel to the bouquet. I love how it creates movement and softness.
Fun Fact: Yep, it's related to the asparagus you eat for dinner! Whilst you can't eat this ornamental version, they're cousins. In nature, these plants grow sweet little white flowers and red berries.
Vase Life: 7-10 days
How to Keep Your Bouquet Looking Beautiful
Want your flowers to last as long as possible? Here's what to do:
Getting Started
- Grab a clean vase and fill it with cold water from the tap
- Empty that little flower food sachet into the water and give it a stir—it's packed with nutrients and helps keep bacteria away
- Strip off any leaves that would end up underwater (they'll just make things murky)
- Give each stem a fresh cut—about 2cm off the bottom at an angle. This helps them drink up more water
Keep Them Happy
- Check on your flowers daily and top up the water when needed
- Every couple of days, dump out the old water, refill with fresh, and give those stems another trim
- Pluck out any flowers that are past their best or leaves that are turning yellow
Finding the Perfect Spot
- Keep them out of direct sunlight—it'll make them fade and droop faster
- Don't put them near radiators, heaters, or fireplaces
- Keep them away from your fruit bowl (ripening fruit gives off a gas that makes flowers age quicker)
- Definitely don't place them near the bin—bacteria and flowers don't mix!
- Avoid draughty spots and air conditioning vents
A Few Extra Tips
- Give your asparagus fern a light spritz with water now and then to keep it looking fresh
- That Leucadendron dries beautifully! When your bouquet's done, hang it upside down somewhere cool and dry if you want to keep it
Look after them well, and you'll get to enjoy these beauties for up to two weeks. Enjoy!
