Chelsea & Alex's Enchanted Late-Summer Wedding at Fabric & Scale
A Vision of Whimsical Woodland Magic
When Alex and Chelsea first reached out about their September wedding at Fabric and Scale, they had a clear vision - vibrant late-summer florals with an enchanted, Lord of the Rings-inspired aesthetic. They wanted arrangements that felt wild and woodland-like, abundant with colour and texture, perfectly suited to both the ceremony and reception venues. And of course, their beloved dog needed to be part of the floral story too!
The Design Process
During our consultation, I met with Alex and we discussed his vision for the day. I showed him example photos and explained ideas for creating that enchanted meadow aesthetic—organic, flowing arrangements full of personality and rich late-summer colour. Together, we confirmed a vibrant colour palette: golden yellows and coral tones with deep plum purples, soft periwinkle blues, fresh sage green, and unexpected pops of magenta. Bold, rich, and unmistakably late-summer.
We talked through how to maximize their floral investment across both venues—from the ceremony arch at Fabric to the reception styling at Scale. This wedding was especially fun because my husband and I built the wooden ceremony arch together, creating the perfect foundation for the asymmetrical floral arrangements that would bring Alex's vision to life.
Bridal Bouquet
The Floral Story
Chelsea's cascading bouquet captured the wild, garden-picked aesthetic she dreamed of. Sunflowers anchored the design with golden warmth, whilst dahlias, zinnias, and hydrangeas provided abundant texture and depth. Delphinium added height and movement, craspedia brought playful round shapes, and trailing clematis created that organic, meadow-gathered flow. The thoughtful blend of lisianthus and seasonal blooms made the bouquet feel both abundant and refined - like it truly was gathered from an enchanted woodland.
Bridesmaid Bouquets
The three bridesmaid bouquets mirrored Chelsea's palette in a more intimate scale, featuring the same carefully selected ingredients including sunflowers and seasonal blooms. These smaller arrangements maintained the organic, garden-style aesthetic whilst allowing each bridesmaid to carry a piece of the wedding's vibrant floral story without competing with the bridal bouquet.
Wrist Corsages
For the mothers of the bride and groom, we created wrist corsages featuring lighter, more delicate blooms, designed to fit snugly and sturdy enough to endure plenty of dancing all night long, these special touches honoured the important women in Chelsea and Alex's lives.
Buttonholes
The modern buttonholes showcased distinctive craspedia globes and delphinium for a fresh, contemporary take on traditional boutonnieres. Some featured closed bud clematis for subtle texture and visual interest, each finished with casually tied ribbon to maintain the relaxed, organic feeling throughout.
Doggy Collar Attachment
One of my favourite details—Chelsea and Alex's sweet dog joined the wedding party beautifully adorned with a custom collar attachment featuring cheerful sunflowers, zinnias, delphinium, and fresh greens. Crafted to be as light as possible and fit snugly on the collar, this fun little detail brought lovely personality to the day and made for the most adorable photos!
Ceremony Arch
The wooden ceremony arch at Fabric featured asymmetrical floral arrangements bursting with all the ingredients from Chelsea's bouquet—that same wild woodland garden vibe. We attached their custom neon sign to the arch base, creating a perfect blend of whimsical romance and modern personality.
Guest Table Moss Groupings
Twelve guest tables featured small moss groupings with various flowers from our planned selection at low and staggered heights, creating visual interest whilst allowing guests to see each other across the tables. Each grouping combined our vibrant late-summer blooms for a cohesive yet varied look.
Maximizing Impact
Chelsea wanted florals to enhance every moment of her day across both venues. We strategically planned installation and turnaround between ceremony and reception, and I provided complimentary stems for her photographer's detail shots. Every floral element—from personal florals to large installations—worked together to create the enchanted late-summer celebration she envisioned.
The Result
On 20 September 2025, Chelsea walked down the aisle at Fabric carrying a bouquet that felt truly gathered from an enchanted meadow—vibrant, abundant, and wildly romantic. The florals transformed both venues with rich late-summer hues and woodland magic, whilst thoughtful details like the doggy collar brought personality and joy to every moment. Every stem was chosen with intention, every detail crafted to bring Chelsea's Lord of the Rings-inspired vision to life, and the result was pure enchantment.
