Alice & Tom's Modern City Wedding at One Fine Day
A Vision of Modern Elegance
When Alice first reached out about her September wedding at One Fine Day, she knew exactly the feeling she wanted to create—modern, sophisticated, and effortlessly chic. With a bridal party dressed in striking black and champagne gold, she envisioned florals that would feel sculptural and refined, complementing the venue's urban elegance without competing with it.
The Design Process
During our initial consultations via email, Alice shared her love of clean lines and architectural details. She wasn't drawn to traditional romantic florals - she wanted something bold, structured, and unmistakably contemporary. She also had an example photo that she absolutely loved - one with the timeless elegance of calla lilies, the graceful drape of amaranthus, the modern edge of orchids.
Together, we built a colour palette that would sit beautifully against her bridal party's black and champagne attire - soft olive, muted sage, creamy neutrals, and crisp white. These tonal shades would create depth and sophistication whilst maintaining the fresh, modern aesthetic Alice was after.
Bridal Bouquet
The Floral Story
Alice's bouquet became the centrepiece of our floral design. White calla lilies and anthurium provided bold, architectural shapes, whilst white and green orchids added refined delicacy. Trailing amaranthus created a slight cascade - just enough natural movement without losing the clean lines that defined the overall look. We finished it with white ribbon that perfectly matched her wedding dress, creating a cohesive, polished finish.
Bridesmaid Bouquets & Buttonholes
Bridesmaid Bouquets
For her bridesmaids, we created a complementary but distinct look - white calla lilies, wrapped in champagne ribbon to echo their dresses. Alice chose the short-length stems for structured design, which allowed the bridesmaids' florals to stand confidently on their own whilst maintaining visual harmony with her bridal bouquet. Simple, sculptural, and perfectly balanced.
Buttonholes
The groomsmen's buttonholes featured a single white calla lily with structured soft ruscus, tied with either black ribbon to coordinate with their formal wear. This simple combination kept the look refined and consistent with the wider floral palette - modern, polished, and confident.
Maximizing Impact
One of Alice's priorities was making her floral investment work throughout the day. We planned for the bridesmaid bouquets to double as top table arrangements during the reception, and I provided complimentary stems for her photographer's flat lay shots. These thoughtful touches meant florals were present in every meaningful moment without unnecessary duplication.
The Result
On 19 September 2026, Alice walked down the aisle at One Fine Day carrying a bouquet that was uniquely hers - sculptural, modern, and effortlessly elegant. The florals complemented the venue's city-chic aesthetic whilst standing out as statement pieces in their own right. Every stem was chosen with intention, every detail considered, and the result was exactly what Alice had envisioned from our very first conversation.
