What's in your flower & coffee carrier?

Happy Gal/Valentine's Day! 🩷

Thanks for picking up one of our flower carriers from Cornhill Coffee! I hope your coffee or matcha was amazing and these flowers brighten your space.

What's in Your Bouquet

This arrangement brings together different textures, shapes, smells and colours. Here's what you've got:

Naomi Rose
The star of the show. Naomi roses are known for being large, sturdy flowers that open into full, romantic blooms. They're bred specifically for their incredible form and long vase life.

Ranunculus
Those paper-thin, ruffled petals (up to 90 per bloom!). They keep opening and getting prettier over several days.

Spray Carnation
Modern carnations with a fluffy, almost peony-like appearance. They add volume and colour while outlasting most other flowers.

Panicum Fountain
Ornamental grass that gives movement and a wild, natural vibe. It's what keeps the arrangement from feeling too formal.

Ruscus
Glossy greenery providing structure. It balances all the soft petals and stays fresh for weeks.

DIY Flower Food Formula

This is what I use in my studio. It's simple, works brilliantly, and you probably have everything already:

The Recipe:

  • 1 litre of warm water
  • 2 tablespoons white sugar
  • 2 tablespoons white vinegar or lemon juice
  • ½ teaspoon bleach

How to Make It: Mix everything together in warm water until the sugar dissolves. Let it cool to room temperature before adding to your vase.

How It Works:

  • Sugar feeds the flowers
  • Vinegar/lemon juice helps water move up the stems
  • Bleach kills bacteria that clogs stems

Make a fresh batch each time you change the water. More instructions below on how to care for your flowers 🩷

How to Keep Your Flowers Fresh

Your flowers come pre-arranged in a vase inside the carrier. Just remove the vase and follow these steps:

Change the Water Right Away
Dump the transport water and refill with fresh, room-temperature water (or the flower food water if you DIY'd it!).

Find the Right Spot
Keep away from direct sunlight, heating vents, and fruit bowls (ripening fruit makes flowers die faster). Cooler spots = longer-lasting blooms.

Change Water Every 2 Days
Fresh water = happy flowers. Make a new batch of flower food each time you change the water.

Remove Dead Bits
Take out any wilted flowers or yellowing leaves as they appear. Keeps everything looking fresh and stops the healthy flowers from dying faster.

Watch for Cloudy Water
If the water gets murky or smelly between changes, replace it immediately. That's bacteria, and it'll kill your flowers.

Pro Tip
If a stem starts drooping, cut it at an angle and dip it in hot water (40-45°C) for 30 seconds, then put it back in the vase. Can sometimes revive it!

If you loved these flowers, imagine getting a new bouquet every month.

About Fustaq Florals

I'm Liz Tah Bash, the florist behind Fustaq Florals. I trained at the Boerma Instituut in the Netherlands (International Dutch Floral Design) and started Fustaq Florals one year ago.

So, what does "Fustaq" mean?
It's the Kurdish word for pistachio. My husband, who is Kurdish, lovingly calls me his "Fustaq", a term of endearment similar to "honey." When I was naming the business, it felt perfect. Something small and beautiful that brings joy, and honestly, a name with a story behind it.

I run a made-to-order studio in Liverpool's business district. No bulk production, no corporate compromises. Just me designing bespoke florals for weddings, subscriptions, and special occasions.

Whether you need wedding flowers, want to join The Bunch Club, or have something custom in mind, I'm here to create something beautiful.
